(When God revealed the unknown events of the future through prophets, sometimes the description was literal, sometimes symbolical, and sometimes a combination of the two. When God revealed the unknown prehistory of his creating the heavens and the earth and all therein, it likewise could be literal, symbolical, or a combination of the two. According to standard cosmological models, the naturally occurring elements of the periodic table of elements (with the exception of certain lighter elements, mostly hydrogen) were forged by nuclear reactions in starry furnaces, particularly in late stage expansion, contraction, and supernova explosions - the latter of which also spews out these elements into interstellar space.

If standard models be taken as approximating the correct understanding of the formation of the elements, it means that billions of years ago - in accordance with God's eternal plan - even as the whole universe was displaying God's glory just for what it was, and not merely for what would be, God was beginning already to look forward to us by forging atoms of carbon, oxygen, and other elements in the stars, and sending them forth into space. He intended certain specific atoms from among these atoms to be collected together forming a planet we call Earth, where some of those atoms would be utilized for our physical bodies, including the physical body that would be incarnated by the Second Person of the Trinity. Some of those atoms would also become the wood that was made into the cross where Jesus would die so that we might by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, be redeemed from our sins to the glory of God. We who are a part of his glorious creation should see his glory in both creation and redemption - and give him the praise! Perhaps one day this standard model will be shown inadequate by new data and replaced by another model (and I am not unaware that not all Christians accept this model, particularly those who hold that the creation account in Genesis is more or less a literal re-telling of exactly how and when God did these things), but this piece made think of God forging of these elements in the stars, with intention to use them in time towards the accomplishment of his plan.)
